Storm Information Via the Web
There was an interesting article in yesterday's Globe and Mail: Internet Feeds Hunger for Storm Information by Caroline Alphonso and Eric Vanden Bussche (web version article, currently free). It discusses how people are using new web services, including recently-launched Google Earth, to determine specific information to answer their questions regarding whereabouts of their loved ones and the like following Hurricane Katrina. Another website identified as useful is the Katrina Information Map (www.scipionus.com) in which markers are placed on a map with links to neighbourhood information that may be of interest to people affected by the hurricane.
